The Trust provides mental health and community services to people living in the boroughs of Bury, Oldham and Rochdale. Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust also provides mental health services in Stockport and Tameside and Glossop, as well as community services in Trafford. The Trust provide a range of services for people who have serious mental illness such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as more common mental health problems including depression, anxiety and dementia.
Requirement
The IT department within the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust came to Akhter looking for help with a range of custom IT solutions for its different departments.
Solution
Akhter Computers supplied 1000 Toshiba Ultrabook Z10T Tablet Computers including customized integrated PC security card reader and docking station to the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The Toshiba Z10T is a multifunctional 2-in-1 Ultrabook that can be used as a traditional touchscreen PC, or the screen can be detached to be used as a tablet. With a FHD touch display, you can get the full Windows 8 experience with touch navigation as well as clear sharp images from the 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Z10 features excellent connectivity with USB2.0 and 3.0 HDMI, VGA, Ethernet and SD card.
Result
The core of this service was built around the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). SCCM allows the creation of Computer images, Application packaging and deployment based on specific departmental needs. Our engineers and Toshiba engineers worked closely with the Trust’s IT department to build bespoke tablet images and applications based on each department’s specific needs to ensure that all the Z10T specific drivers and configuration files were tested and approved using Microsoft’s SCCM.
The versatility and freedom provided by the Ultrabooks means staff can use them as touchscreen laptops or as a tablet by detaching the screen. Early engagement with the Trust’s IT department and stringent testing of the product within the SCCM environment ensure a seamless and successful roll out.
